Debby Doesn’t Do it For Free (Sex Worker Artist Collective)
Tap Gallery, Darlinghurst, June 2015
Debby Doesn’t Do it for Free is an intergenerational sex worker activist, artist and performance collective. The exhibition, launched on International Whores Day 2015 and featuring mixed mediums from body paint to embroidery, tells sex worker stories about decriminalisation, labour, health, safety, community, privacy and stigma.
Sex workers took 2-hour shifts as part of a durational week-long live performance in the window display, protesting gentrification and closure of sex industry spaces in solidarity with sex workers in Amsterdam.
